Bittersweet Beginnings ~~ Chapter 8



Tunetha sat there a little while longer watching Cheyanna sleep, wishing her life were that simple. Sonny could tell that she was getting sleepy and suggested that she go back to her room and take a nap. After putting up little resistance she agreed, she placed the sleeping baby back into her crib and allowed Sonny to help her back to her room.

Tunetha was released from the hospital 3 days after she woke up much to the disappointment of Dr. Ross. And just as Sonny predicted Duane was anything but happy about having Sonny stay with Tunetha. He tried to talk Tunetha out of it but she wasn't having it, she told Duane that it was her home and her choice so if she wanted her best friend to stay with her while he got over his ex that was the way it was going to be.

Duane relented only because he didn't want to cause any friction between him and Tunetha but that didn't stop him from telling Sonny that he didn't like the fact that he was staying there.

Days went by and it was obvious to see that Sonny and Tunetha were forming a routine. He cooked breakfast and dropped her off at the hospital and she picked him up from work and cooked dinner. After dinner if Tunetha wasn't to sleepy the two would sit on the couch and watch tv. Most of the time that's how Duane would find them, asleep in each others arms and the tv on playing to no one.

It was weeks before Duane became comfortable with the relationship between the two friends. He still doubted his boss's motives but he didn't doubt the love that Tunetha had for him. He was surprised one day when he overheard conversation.

"Sonny, you know I love you right??"

"yes, i do. why??"

"How much longer are you going to mope around here??"

"What do you mean, your the one that wanted me here??"

"And I still do, I like having you around all the time. It makes me think of what life would have been like if we had known each other when we were younger. What I'm talking about is either convince Carly to come back to you or start dating. Have you noticed the way Hannah looks at you when you stop by the nursery?? I think she likes you." she jokingly told him

"she does not" he rolled his eyes at the absurdity of ever dating again, there was only women for him and she didn't want him "I'll convince Carly to come back when you tell Duane that you don't want to spend your life with anyone but him, that you love him more than anything and that you want to adopt Chey"

"I will in my own time, its not the kind of the thing you just spring on a guy. He's still trying to cope with our relationship"
