This story came to me when I listening to one of my cd's by Lila McCann..I don't know how many of you listen to country but anyway I digress. One of the songs on the CD is Changing Faces and all of the sudden this story came to me. Just to let ya'll know I am changing history this kinda sorta begins when they(meaning Sonny and Carly) came back from the island after losing the baby. So nothing after that happens in my world. Hope you enjoy!!

Sonny sat at the bar and listened to his very beautiful, very talented girlfriend sing on stage. Her voice was like no other he had ever heard. In fact it was the kind of voice he could listen to forever. She had sung at Luke's before and like everytime before tonite it was packed. L&B had tried to get her to sign a record deal but she refused simply saying No Thanx. He notices though that tonite all of her songs are about relationships gone bad. For a fleeting second he wonders if she is trying to tell him something but decides against it. If nothing else the couple had just celebrated thier 2 yr anniversary and what a celebration that was. Just thinking about it brings a smile to Sonny's face.

As Sonny sits there and listens his mind takes him back to the day met. Him and Carly had just gotten back from the island 3 days ago. And for 3 days Carly ranted and raved about obligations and wanting more. Sonny remembers having no idea what Carly was talking about. And then the next thing he knew Carly was moving out and into Jason's Penthouse.

The day she moved out Sonny spent most of the day wondering about on the docks trying to figure out what in the world had happened and if there was anyway to fix it. All of the sudden he is broken from his thoughts by the sound of laughter. He looks up to see who it is expecting Liz and Emily but sees 2 girls he had never seen before. It was obvious they were med students by the scrubs they wore. Sonny smiles as he remembers walking by and one of the girls saying ''hello! how are you?'' and flashing a smile so incredible that it made her eyes sparkle ''good and you?'' was his response to which she replied ''fine thanx'' Sonny stood close by again lost in his thoughts staring into the water. ''I know we don't know each other'' she started ''but you like you could use a friend to talk to''. Sonny turned around angry at the assumption but once they locked eyes and all he could see was compassion and concern in her eyes before he could stop himself he was sitting down telling this stranger everything. Something that he had never done, not even with Brenda. He remembers how she didn't interrupt much just everyonce and awhile to clarify things and when he was all finished he remembers asking her ''any advice?''. Her response blew him away, it wasn't what he was expecting after living with Carly ''Nah, I know that you know in your heart what to do. I just figured it might help you out if you had someone to bounce ideas off of.'' He was so speechless he didn't know what to say so he introduced himself ''My name is Sonny'' ''and mine is Ayanna'' she said as she shook his hand. ''Well Sonny its been very nice meeting you but I really must be getting back to GH'' He offered to walk with her, she accepted, and they were off. He remembers how they talked non~stop the entire way. They still have the ability to talk non~stop for hours about anything and everything.

That day was the beginning of the beautiful relationship they had now. Whenever Ayanna wasn't at the hospital or studying in the med library she was with Sonny. She got Sonny to start running and he shared his love for cooking with her. A couple of weeks after they started seeing each other Carly left town to go back to Florida. At first Sonny didn't know what to do: should he stay or should he go?? In the end he decided to stay he liked life with Ayanna, it was simple and peaceful nothing like the hectic, stressful life he led with Carly.

Sonny was suddenly brought back to the present by the sound of applause. They locked eyes and she smiled, but the smile didn't reach her eyes. He noticed that it was starting to happen a lot lately. He wondered if it had anything to do with Carly coming back in town, neither of them had said much about it. He prayed it didn't, he didnt' know if he could stand to lose her. Ayanna introduced the next singer and before Sonny knew it she was standing next to him, he hadn't seen her all day and was glad to have her next to him again. Ayanna kissed him on the cheek ''hey querido'' Sonny kissed her, a kiss that took her breath away. It was short but full of guilt. ''hey querida'' Ayanna started to ask him something but realized she had lost his attention.

Ayanna looked to see what had his attention but she didn't need to look she knew what it was. Or in this case who it was. It was Carly. She was back and there was no doubt in Ayanna's mind that she was back for Sonny. She hated bieng jealous but she knew how much the two meant to each other even now.

Sonny didn't think Ayanna knew what Carly looked like or that she was even back but he still felt bad. Carly had been in town for 2 mths now. They'd seen each other several times and Sonny felt guilty. Guilty for decieving Ayanna and guilty for wanting Carly. Ayanna sat there feeling her heart break as she watched her boyfriend obviously watch another woman. She knew Sonny had been meeting with Carly for weeks now. The guards talked sometimes, at first she was mad thinking they were just trying to mean but then figured they were doing it so she wouldn't feel like a fool later. Ayanna knew what she had to do, she just didn't want to. For once in her life she wanted to be selfish. To keep Sonny for herself.

Please don't introduce me, don't be so polite
Tomorrown I'll get over you if I just
get through tonite
I don't think I can stand it, while

Then she's the one to wear

Carly watches the two with interest. With the obvious pain on his girlfriends face she knew Ayanna knew about her. She was kind of disappointed in Sonny, she at least thought he'd be somewhat sensitive. At the same time she just wanted to go over there and kiss him, kiss him like he deserved to be kissed. Not that sorry excuse she gave him earlier. She looked up again only to see Ayanna looking at her and for a second she felt bad. She knew now what Sonny meant by her eyes bieng able to see deep down, she felt like Ayanna knew exactly what she had been thinking. Carly looked away. Ayanna smiled.

Ayanna can feel that she's bieng watched. She looks up and catches Carly looking at them. The way she is looking at Sonny is disgusting she thinks to herself. After a few seconds Carly looks away. Ayanna smiles at least she the decency to act embaressed she thinks. She knows what she needs to do now. If not for them for her. Now the next step was to get the courage to do it, never before had she told someone to go be with someone else. She's brought from her thoughts by Sonny trying to get her attention.

After a few minutes of watching Carly and trying to get his feelings underwrap, Sonny turned to Ayanna only to realize she wasn't even paying attention to him. In fact she was looking in Carly's direction. He tried to hold her hand but she moved it away. Sonny began to panic~~Did Ayanna know who Carly was?? Did she know about thier meeetings?? Was she getting ready to leave him?? He tried again to get her attention by playing with her hair. He let out the breath he had been holding but hadn't realized he was holding when she turned around and very innocently said ''huh?'' He smiled and tried to kiss her, he wanted to show her just how much he loved her, wanted to be with her and how sorry he was. But she cut the kiss short almost as if she was saying she didn't want to hear it. ''Is anything wrong 'yanna??'' he asked worried ''No, why would anything be wrong, its not like I have anything to worry about, you'd never lie to me..Betrayel is the worst crime a person can commit. Isn't that what you always say'' she snapped. There was a hurt in Ayanna's eyes that Sonny had never seen before and in that instant he knew she knew. Sonny felt his heart break.

She couldnt' help but let the anger through. How stupid did this man think she was. And then she saw it, the look of regret and pity flash through his eyes. At that moment she knew, none of this was meant to happen. It just did. He loved her and there was nothing any of them could do about it. At that moment she was sure of what she needed to do. Carly was back, this was thier second chance and Ayanna was always trying to convince him that the people you love deserve a second chance.

She looked at Sonny with tears in her eyes ''do me a favor'' she asked ''anything baby'' he said scared she was about to leave him but at the same wishing he could get her to understand that while he loved her he was in love with someone else. ''Promise me you'll never forget the time we shared together, always hold a special place in your heart for me, the next time you don't understand where something is coming from ask questions, don't wast time trying to hold on to your pride, remember she eavesdrops but shes only doing it because she worries, and this time don't let her go..you don't know if you'll get another second chance'' As she finished she wiped the tears from her face. ''huh'' he said shocked by everything she just said. ''Don't act stupid, Sonny, its unbecoming'' ''I love you'' he told her for the first time ''and I love you'' she said. Ayanna kissed him one more time before saying goodbye. As she walked away Sonny said ''Keep in touch'' she turned around and said ''always'' turned back around and headed for the door. He could do nothing but watch.

Ayanna started to walk to the door after Sonny asked her to keep in touch but she stopped and turned towards Carly. Carly was nervous. Ayanna stopped in front of her ''I know we don't know each other but I need you to do me a favor'' ''okay'' Carly said extremly nervous ''Remember he's not like us, he doesn't share all of his feelings, sometimes its best to leave him alone no matter how much it hurts you, Remember you eavesdrop so there are times your'e gonna say something and hes not gonna understand..fess up to eavesdropping, Don't be afraid to ask for something, Take care of him, he holds a special part of my heart and if I hear you hurt him again I have no qualms about coming back and kicking your ass. Oh and don't leave him again unless its for good~~Its not fair to the one who takes your place'' Carly took in everything she said, she had to admit she respected the girl. ''your leaving?'' she asked. ''Yeah I was offered a job in the city and it'll make things easier on me and on ya'll'' ''good luck'' ''thanx'' and with that said Ayanna walked off to start her new life without Sonny. ''Ayanna'' Carly called ''yeah Carly'' ''I never meant for this to happen'' ''none of us did'' she smiled.

Sonny had been watching the whole thing afraid of what may happen between the two, but when he saw Ayanna smile that smile that made her eyes sparkle he couldn't help but smile. Everything was gonna be okay. He was gonna be with the woman he was in love with and the women he loved, loved him enough to let it happen.
