More Than Words

The Port Charles Hotel

Tamia stepped off the elevator and headed to the penthouse. As much as she loved Carly she was tired of living in a hotel, tired of being in Port Charles and as much as she tried to forget she knew an empty home was all that was waiting for her in New Orleans.

She stepped into the penthouse to see her guards pacing the floor. "Ok guys, what‘s going on? You're going to ruin my carpet!" she exclaimed. These guys were not your ordinary guys these were football size guys pacing the floor.

The guys not bothering to stop, just looked at each other, one to the other. None of them wanting to be the one that told her, afraid of what her reaction would be.

Tamia started thinking the worse, was afraid that her husband had passed away. “okay I swear to God if one of ya’ll don’t start talking I’m gonna kill you all.”

Syrus stopped in front of her and took a deep breath. “Okay Tam you know how you are always saying we couldn’t get out of bed safely if it wasn’t for you, and that we screw everything up….”

Tamia could just feel her blood pressure rising. “…..well this is one of those times we done messed up” finished Percy.

“Why doesn’t it surprise me that you are involved in yet another screw up Percy? Do you ever get anything right?” she snapped at him. She saw a hurt of look pass through his eyes as he hung his head. She immediately felt bad, she knew it broke his heart every time she brought it up. But for some reason she couldn’t stop doing it. She rationalized saying if she was going to hurt so was someone else but it never made her feel better it also never made her feel bad enough to aplogize.

“If your finished Tamia…” Andre started as he walked through the kitchen door. “We all (pointing at the other guards standing in the room) messed up. You see we were all so intent in making sure that Sorel felt the same kind of pain that you feel. That we let our personal feelings interfere with business….”

*knock, knock*

“who could that be?” Lakeith asked

“I don’t know Einstein they are on the other side of the door” she snapped as she went to the door “we aren’t finished here” she finished as she got to the door. Percy, Lakeith and Syrus had all disappeared into the kitchen. All that remained in the living room was Andre, the only one brave enough to be mad at Tamia.

“Surprise” she heard as she opened the door

“Sonny, wow. What are you doing here?” she stammered. As she opened the door further not really wanting to let him in.

“Just thought I’d come pick you up early that way you and Micheal could have a chance to catch up.” Sonny looked around the room he could have sworn he heard more than one voice “you are all he talks about”

“well what can I say the kid has good taste in woman” she nervously joked with him. He was making her nervous with the way he was looking around the penthouse. “Sonny this Andre, he is a friend and business partner from back home. Andre this is Sonny. Sonny is Carly’s husband”

“nice to meet you” the two men said as they shook hands.

“So did Carly put in my order for dinner?” she asked flashing her dimples trying to get rid of some of the tension that was building in the room. Both men chuckled; they knew she only poured on the charm when she wanted something.

“Yes, spoiled, I got your order for dinner. Chicken Alfredo will be tonight’s main course. Anything else your highness” he teased her, for a moment forgetting he didn’t trust her or her “business partner”.

“Nope I think that pretty much covers it” she looked at her watch it was almost 5:30 pm “So are you ready to go?“ Tamia really didn’t want to be alone with Sonny, but it didn’t look like she had much choice.

“Sure, Andre would you like to join us for dinner?” Sonny asked.

“No, thanks. I just got in so I’m going to go take a shower and catch up on some sleep” he told Sonny as stood up to escort the two out.

“Okay, Maybe next time.” He told Andre. “Let’s go Princess, Michael will be happy to see you”

“Okie dokie. Bye Andre. I won’t be too late” she said as she kissed him on the cheek. Sonny put his hand on the small of her back and led Tamia out of the penthouse and towards the elevator. Andre leaned against the door after he closed it. “Good luck tam” he said under his breath. He knew she was going to need it for the ride to the Corinthos’ home only.

“Where did Tamia go?” Percy asked as they filed out of the kitchen.

“She went with Sonny” he told them as he tried rubbing away his oncoming headache. “He came to pick her up for dinner.”

“You let her go with Corinthos?” Syrus yelled. “Man are you crazy, there is no telling what that man will do if they are alone.”

“okay, and what was I supposed to say” he snapped back “I’m sorry she can’t go with you. She may lose her nerve and everything we have worked on will go down the drain. Real smart Einstein. Don’t you think I know the huge risk we are taking by her being in the car with him”

Just as Sonny and Tamia were getting ready to get into the Limo, Sonny’s phone rang. “Corinthos” he said into his phone. She noticed the smile disappear from his face and this hard blank look take over. He looked up to see Tamia trying to get his attention.

“Huh?”

“Ya know if you need your privacy, I can always walk to the penthouse. Its not that far.” She offered.

“No,no. If you don’t mind I’ll just sit up front w/Johnny”

“Why don’t I sit up front? After all its your Limo”

“No, that’s okay. Plus with you up front Johnny won’t be able to concentrate. It’s safer for us all if you sit in the back” He chuckled as he opened the door and ushered her into the car. Tamia couldn’t help but let out an exaggerated breath when the door closed. She was not at all looking forward to that long car ride alone with Sonny, and now she didn‘t have to.

“I told you it would work” LaKeith exclaimed as he watched Sonny climb into the front of the limo and the car drive off.

“Thank goodness” Percy sighed as he shut his cell phone. He had never been one to think on his feet.

“So what did you tell him?” Syrus questioned, hoping it wouldn’t backfire.

“Just that we needed to talk. That I had heard somethings about his wife on the street that I thought he would like to know. Now I just hope this doesn’t blow up in our face.” Percy told the group.

“Tell me about it.” Syrus said to no one in particular. “So when are we gonna tell her that we have Sorel tied up in an abandoned building?”

“I’m kinda tempted to just take care of this ourselves.” Andre told the group. “That way there is no way to link this back to Tam, but she’d kill us all if we did that. I say we wait to see how her mood is when she gets back from dinner, and go from there its not like Sorel is going anywhere.
