Carly followed her heart and it led her to the neighborhood park. She found Chey sitting on a swing. Carly went and sat down on the swing next to her.
"hey girlfriend"
"hey Carly"
They sat there in silence.
"How did you do it??"
"do what??"
"forgive them"
"I dunno probably the same way we always seem to forgive each other"
"It's not the same though, Carly. They had been lying to us for years. It makes me doubt my whole childhood. What would have happened if we hadn't come here for college?? Would they still be lying to us? I just can't do it, Carly. I can't be like you and act like its okay" Tears were streaming down her face.
"Maybe they would be, but Chey all this anger and hate your keeping inside you...what good is it doing you??"
"none"
"I didn't think so"
They were silent again for little while and began to swing. Both could feel Marcus and Sonny behind them, but didn't feel like dealing with them right now.
"I'm sorry"
"for what??"
"for bieng a bitch the last 3 yrs"
"yeah well i haven't exactly been Ms. Congeniality. I hated that we were growing up, becoming two different people and because of it growing apart"
"me too, look how much time we lost trying to hold on to the past"
"tell me about it"
"so are you and Sonny really staying here and going back to NYU in the fall?"
"that's the plan"
"you love him??"
Part of her didn't really want to answer because she knew he was standing there and she had never told him before. The other part of her said now is as good as ever. She decided to listen to her heart "More than I ever thought I could"
"I'm happy for you"
"Thanx so what about you...you and Marc really going to ASU in the fall??"
"yep, they have the best international business and marketing program in the US. Its gonna be wierd though bieng so far apart, even when we weren't talking I always knew you were close by. I'm gonna miss you"
"I'm gonna miss you too!! So are you moving all the way to AZ because of the educational benefits or because of Marcus??"
It was Chey's turn to decide if she wanted to admit her love for Marcus knowing he was standing behind her. She decided to take the plunge "its because of Marcus, I love him more than he'll ever know"
"he's lucky"
"I'd like to think we are all lucky"
"So ya think we ought to let the loves of our life know that we know they are back there??"
"Might as well, even though you would have thought thier mom's would have told them eavesdropping is rude" she jokingly chided
The 2 guys came out of thier hiding place embarassed they had ben caught, happy the girls were having a civil conversation, stunned by thier admission of love.
"Marcus, do me a favor??" Chey asked
"huh??" he said walking towards her
"push me" she answered
"your wish is my command" he said coming up behind her
"It'd better be" teased Chey
"it is" he said getting ready to push her on the swing like she asked
Chey leaned her head back and looked up into his eyes "kiss"
"my pleasure" he said leaning down to kiss the love of his life. As he got ready to stand back up he whispered "I love you" "I love you too" she whispered back to him
The guys started pushing the girls on the swings just as all the parents, Lois and Johnny reached them.
"Here you guys are" Marcus's mom said. The guys brought the swings to a stop that way the girls could get up and leave if they wanted to.
"I was starting to get worried, querida" Mr. Cerillo said
"I'm sorry I didn't mean to worry you" she said as she gave him a hug
"I want one of those too" Mrs. Corinthos said
Cheyanna gave her a hug "no matter what, mija this will always be your home" Mrs. Corinthos whispered in her ear
"Thanks Mrs. C, I love you" she whispered back.
"So what were you guys getting ready to do??" Mrs. Fleming asked
"Play" the four said in unison
The parents laughed and had a seat on the nearest bench. Lois and Johnny went and joined thier friends. The 6 college graduates ran around the playground, playing and laughing like children as thier parents watched and occasionaly warned them to be careful. After about an hour the group was tired and they plopped themselves on a bench across from thier parents.
"I'm hungry" the girls said in unison
"When aren't you??" the guys replied
The girls elbowed them. "Lets go get the girls something to eat" Mrs. Benson said
Everyone go up and started walking home.
Chey walked up behind her best friend and wrapped her arms around his neck "know what I need??" She whispered in his ear
"uh uh what??"
"a piggy back ride!!"
"you're serious??"
"as a hear attack!"
Sonny stopped walking and told Chey to "hop on"
Chey laughed and then hopped on his back. Sonny carried her like that all the way down the street until they got to his house. Once inside he put her down. The girls went upstairs to clean up, the guys went to go sit in the living room and the parents went to the kitchn to warm-up dinner.
When the girls came downstairs, they went and sat in the Living Room. Lois sat down next to Sonny and put her head on his shoulder, Carly sat on Marcus's lap and leaned back so she was resting against him, and Chey went and sat in between Johnny's legs on the floor and leaned back against him. The group sat thier in silence all aware that this would be the last time they did this for awhile.
The parents came in 45 minutes later to tell them dinner was ready. They expected to see them laughing and talking, but instead found them sleeping, Johnny and Marcus had thier arms wrapped around Carly and Chey and Sonny had his arm draped protectivly around Lois.
"It seems like somethings never change" Ms Benson said "An hour outside playing at the park could always wear the girls out"
"It feels like just yesterday I sent him off to kindergarten and now he's all grown up and ready to get married" Mrs. Fleming said as tears filled her eyes.
"Don't I know!!" Mrs. Cerillo said
"Thats okay cuz that will always be my baby boy" Mrs. Taggert said her voice filled with sadness
"Tell me about it" Mrs. Corinthos said as she wrapped an arm around Mrs. Taggert.
The parents stood there for a little while longer watching thier babies sleep, grateful that even though they were outgrowing thier need for parents that at least they had each other. After awhile the parents turned around left and Sonny's mom went upstairs
